Sew My Style 2019- Phoenix Blouse Inspiration

I’ve been looking forward to sewing Hey June’s Phoenix blouse all year! With that being said, I’ve had a challenging time deciding on fabric and whether I should make some changes or sew per the pattern. There are so many great fabric options and ready-to-wear inspiration pieces, I thought I’d share some of my favorite finds for the Phoenix.

I know we’re heading into fall, but here in Texas, we experience summer-like temps well into October, sometimes even through December! With that being said, I think this Free People sleeveless flutter tank would be a fun hack for the Phoenix. I really love the ruffle along the side of the yoke and fringe along the bottom. This mustard hacci Telio knit (Affiliate link) would give you a similar look with a few modifications to the pattern.

When I came across this Floral Bell Sleeve, I was drawn to the lace embellishments on the sleeves and along the neckline and the concept of using two contrasting, but complimentary fabrics used to create this look. If you’re drawn to the use of two fabrics, Style Makers has this rayon animal print that is similar to the bottom print. The floral prints reminds me of some Art Gallery floral print rayons, including this lovely Indie Folk Meadow. (Affiliate link)

This Nordstrom blouse can easily be recreated with the Phoenix pattern by hacking the sleeves. I love the look of a classic tiny floral print, and I found some great rayon prints from various online shops.

(Clockwise) LA Finch currently has these lovely ivory and blue floral prints in their shop. Jessica Jones has been one of my favorite grapic designers for years, and her Business Class apparel fabric is one of my favorites! This tiny floral eggplant print would be perfect for fall! I’m really excited that my local shop, Fabrique Fabrics, is reopening their online shop! This cream fabric is in stock, but selling out quickly. Fabric.com has a few options, but I really like how the flowers look in this print (Affililate link) against the navy background.

Lastly, I found some really fun hacks already made to the Phoenix from a few other bloggers. Fleurine’s maternity hack is great for growing bump. It would be easy to add snaps or a zipper along the sides of the front yoke to make it a great transitional nursing top as well. Sew Sophie Lynn swapped the sleeves of the Phoenix for the sleeves from Hey June’s Amalfi dress for a breezier look. Hooray for interchangeable patterns! Lastly, if you’ve been following me for some time, you know I love a good dress hack, so when I came across the Phoenix dress Wearing Old Bones dress made, my heart was happy! This Texas gal would pair it with my cowboy boots and wear it to our annual Family Fun Rodeo Night.

What plans do you have for Blouse month? Are you sewing the Phoenix blouse? Stay tuned for my simple hack soon!
